Lids to Pots Match

Toddler matches pot lids to the right pots in the kitchen, an early size-and-shape matching task with real objects.

Your toddler matches pot lids to the pots they fit, an early sise-and-shape matching game played with real kitchen objects.

How to do it

  1. Set out two or three pots of clearly different sizes with their lids beside them.
  2. Sit on the floor with your toddler and the pots between you.
  3. Show them once how a lid sits on the pot it fits.
  4. Hand them a lid and let them try it on the pots until it fits.
  5. Let them mix and match as long as they like, then stack the pots away together.

Make it yours

Younger (12-15mo): Use just one pot and its lid and celebrate placing it. Older (2-3y): Add a fourth pot and let them line lids up by sise. Siblings: Give each child a pot and pass lids between them
