Look at Lilytopia's colourful temple walls or columns, then echo a detail with small hand shapes or words. This 2 to 4 minute game needs no supplies after Flower Dome admission; older children can invent a repeating sequence for you to copy.
How to do it
- Stop on a clear public path where you can see the colourful Egyptian-inspired walls or columns without blocking anyone, away from the pond and behind barriers.
- One grown-up stays beside one child, within arm's reach throughout.
- Your child chooses a shape or detail in the decoration. Echo it back with a small gesture or word.
- For older children: invite them to invent a two-part repeating pattern for you to copy. Keep hands off the decoration; no supplies, writing, rubbing or cleanup are needed.
Make it yours
Ages 2 to 3: Use one visible detail and one adult echo. A look or an unrelated child gesture is welcome; the adult follows it without asking for a correction. Ages 4 to 6: Let the child invent the two-part repeat and choose where you pause. If they change the rule, follow their new pattern; no speed or correct-answer target is needed. Quiet or seated version: Keep hands resting and use a soft word for each detail, or let the adult describe what the child looks towards. Choose a view available from the child's seated position; do not move closer to make a detail visible.
