At home, bring one festival photo to life together. Your child narrates what is happening while you add sound effects, then swap roles; a printed hanfu photo keepsake makes a ready-made starting point if your family has one.

How to do it

  1. Choose one family photo from the visit; use the official printed hanfu photo keepsake if your family received one, or any family festival photo.
  2. Let your child narrate what is happening in the picture while you add two or three gentle sound effects.
  3. Swap roles: you narrate one detail and let your child add the sound effects or correct your version.
  4. Finish after one photo, or put it somewhere the family can enjoy seeing again.

What you need

  • one family festival photo or printed photo keepsake

Signs it is working

The family laughs, adds a detail, or enjoys retelling one moment together.

If it is not quite clicking

If there is no photo or the child does not want to narrate, let them point to a favourite detail while the parent makes one sound effect, or skip the activity.

Make it yours

For preschoolers, accept pointing, gestures, or single words. For older school-age children, give the photo a film title before the replay.

Try this with your child.
