A quick word game where each player says a word that connects to the one said just before, building a fast chain of linked words. Practises listening and finding a link between ideas.
How to do it
- The first player says any word to start the chain.
- The next player says a word that connects to it in some way (by meaning, category, or sound).
- Keep going around, each player linking their word to the one just before.
- If a player gets stuck, they can say the link out loud (such as "both are cold") to help.
- Play until the chain runs out of steam, then start a fresh one.
Make it yours
Younger (5y): Accept any link at all and go slowly, helping them find a connection. Older (7-8y): Add a light rule such as no repeats, or a gentle time limit per turn. Group: Go around a circle so everyone links off the previous player's word
