Metro Manila family ideas for 31 October and 1 November

A second look at a museum scene, or a family photo with everyone in it. Two ways to spend a little time together this weekend.

Imagine stopping in front of a museum scene with your child. You’re still taking it in when they point out something you’ve missed. You look again. Then it’s your turn to show them a detail, and neither of you is quite ready to move on.

You could try that with the Diorama Experience of Philippine History at Ayala Museum in Makati. Take turns choosing a scene. You don’t have to know all the answers; you can wonder about it together.

Keep your child beside you as you look. At Ayala, children under 16 need an adult with them, actively supervising throughout the visit, and the displayed objects mustn’t be touched. If your child wants to pick things up and play, you might decide to save this visit for another time.

For this weekend, make it Saturday 31 October 2026. Ayala Museum is closed on Sunday 1 November for All Saints’ Day. If the dioramas are what you’re coming for, ask whether that exhibition will be open before booking a visit.

Bring yourselves into the picture

If you’re usually the one taking the family photograph, imagine getting into it for a change.

Food Exchange Manila’s Carnival of Boos buffet has a family portrait booth. If your child fancies dressing up, you could choose an outfit together beforehand. There’s face painting too; let them decide whether they’d like to try it.

You could make it Sunday lunch on 1 November 2026 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City. Lunch runs from noon to 2.30pm, Philippine time. Have a look at the dining offer together before you decide. Ask about the buffet when you enquire; the separate Halloween party has sold out.

Ask the hotel whether it can take your group before buying a dining voucher. You’ll need a separate table reservation; the voucher doesn’t reserve one. You’ll need ALL membership for the boutique offer. The purchase is non-refundable, and once you’ve reserved, the booking can’t be cancelled or changed. If you’re unsure about paying now, weigh booking now against deciding on the day before you commit.

Later, if your child wants to tell someone about the day, let them start where they like. It might be the scene you stopped at, or the face you pulled for the photograph. You may hear about a bit you’d barely noticed.
