The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens at 2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street is one of the oldest zoological parks in Southeast Asia, established in the 1860s during the French colonial period. The site combines a zoo with botanical gardens across a large urban park in District 1. It is used as both an animal exhibit and a public green space in the centre of the city.

The Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theater at 55B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1, presents Vietnamese water puppetry, a traditional performing art originating from the Red River Delta region. Performances take place on a water stage with puppets operated by hidden puppeteers, accompanied by live traditional music. The theater is one of the primary dedicated venues for this art form in Ho Chi Minh City.
